Career Center

About the Career Center

The UCLA Career Center is much more than a place to help you find a job when you're ready to graduate. In fact, they are there to help you from the first day you arrive at UCLA!

The UCLA Career Center offers services and resources to help UCLA students, UC graduates and employers reach their goals. As a UCLA student, from the first day you arrive, they can introduce you to an array of career possibilities and internships and help you explore the link between your major and career choices.

How they help UCLA students:

The UCLA Career Center can help you to:

  • Gain a better understanding of your skills, interests, and personality- and learn how they relate to your career options
  • Increase your knowledge of the job and internship search process - including writing effective resumes, cover letters, and thank you notes
  • Access BruinView for internships, jobs, mock interviews, workshops, and employer information sessions
  • Learn about the process of applying to graduate and/or professional school
  • Write an effective personal statement, manage your letters of reference, improve your networking and interviewing skills, prepare for career fairs, and much more.
Career Services for International Students

The Career Center is very aware of the challenges that international students face with employment options, getting internships, the need to reformat their resume to “American” style, etc. so they work very hard to help you in any way they can.

All kinds of workshops are held throughout the year to help international students in particular – make sure you check the Career Center website and the Dashew Center website to see which workshops are coming up.

Drop-In Career Counseling

If you ask any UCLA student you will find out that it can be difficult to get an advising appointment in the Career Center due to high demand of their services; therefore, the Career Center sets aside one hour per week to come to the Dashew Center to do drop-in career counseling just for international students. No appointment necessary, just show up with your questions! Check out the Dashew Center’s Weekly International Programming email (WIP) for more information on drop-in hours each quarter.
